Call for applications: POST

POST's Parliamentary Academic Fellowship Scheme

The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) is currently accepting applications for three Parliamentary Academic Fellowships:

This fellowship will be hosted by the House of Commons Library, but work with teams across UK Parliament, including those that work in education, engagement, outreach, petitions and knowledge exchange.  The primary aim of this fellowship is to gather knowledge about public engagement activities taking place in parliaments around the world. This knowledge will be used to support the secondary aim of the project: to enable lesson sharing and knowledge exchange between the services delivering these activities, including in the UK Parliament, primarily through the International Parliament Engagement Network (IPEN)

This fellowship will be hosted by the Knowledge Exchange Unit, which is based in the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology. The fellow undertaking this project will build on work conducted by two previous academic fellows to develop Parliament’s use of Areas of Research Interest (ARIs) as a tool to support scrutiny. From the Knowledge Exchange Unit, they will collaborate with select committee staff as well as other parliamentary staff and embedded academics across Parliament. They will identify opportunities to develop ARIs and lead on bringing these to fruition.

This fellowship will be hosted by the House of Commons Transport Committee. The fellow delivering this project will have two aims: (1) To build knowledge of relevant communities and researchers, so that the staff team are be better able to identify and draw on the expertise of a wide range of researchers whose work can inform the work of the Committee, across the whole transport remit and at every stage of the scrutiny process; and (2) To increase the profile among external researchers of the Committee’s work and the opportunities it offers for influencing parliamentary scrutiny, Government policy and public debate.
